Ed Baer's Final Pop Rewind - June 28, 2015
Our hearts are heavy following the passing of radio legend, husband, father, grandfather and friend, Ed Baer, on January 1st 2019. Starting his radio career in 1957, Ed was one of the original WMCA Good Guys and the youngest member of the air staff. In 1986, Ed made his move to the Hudson Valley and was a part of our very own WHUD for 29 years. Waking up listeners every morning from 1986 to 2000, Ed was WHUD’s morning man alongside co-host, Mike Bennett. The “Ed Baer Affair” was been one of the highest rated morning shows in New York’s Northern Suburbs during its 14 year run.
Current WHUD morning show hosts Mike and Kacey took over following Baer’s retirement in 2000, although this wasn’t the last he had to offer the listeners of 100.7 WHUD. Up until 2015, Ed produced “Pop Rewind” on Sunday mornings, where WHUD's Jimmy Lyles got his start running the show. Pop Rewind was a two-hour Sunday morning show that looked back at past year’s top songs. As a tribute to Ed, here's the re-broadcast of his final “Pop Rewind” from Sunday, June 28th 2015.
