The town of Marfa, Texas has broken ground on the world's first 3D-printed hotel.

Titled 'El Cosmico', it will include 43 rooms and 18 homes, all built using a massive 3D printer placing layers of a special cement mixture called 'Lavacrete'.

The printer can create curved walls and other unusual shapes much more cheaply and efficiently than traditional construction methods.

El Cosmico is set to open in 2026.
