Scarsdale, NY Author's Latest WWII Novel Deserves Your Attention

In the Spring of 2023, Scarsdale's own Barbara Josselsohn released her first historical novel in what is now referred to as her 'Sisters of War' book series. All three take place in Italy during the second World War.

The debut 'Sisters of War' novel was 'Secrets of the Italian Island', which bounces back and forth between 1943 Italy and present day New York. It was followed just six months later by its sequel 'The Lost Gift to the Italian Island' which tells the same story from a different perspective, that of sister Giulia.

Described as 'a breathtaking and absolutely gripping World War II historical romance' and 'a heartbreaking story of hope, bravery and friendship during the darkest days of war', Josselsohn immerses us back into her fictional imagining in the series third novel, 'The Forgotten Italian Restaurant'. How will the story end for the sisters at the heart of this book series and is it really the end?

Josselsohn, who has written five other novels outside of the 'Sisters of War' series and created the Scarsdale Library Writing Center, does a brilliant job of pulling you into the world of sisters Mia, Giulia, and Callie as they try to avoid oppression and escape the war with their lives all while trying to preserve a little beauty of the world along the way.

She brilliantly drops you into what life must have been like as a civilian during war times and paints such a beautiful landscape of Italy and the Mediterranean coast with her words. If you've read and are a fan of 'The Nightingale' and 'The Women' by Kristin Hannah you'll be just as entranced by 'The Forgotten Italian Restaurant' even if you haven't read the first two 'Sisters of War' books.
